- Abstract
- en_US This little book has a great story behind it. I stop by More Moe's, the rare book room in Moe's, when I get to Berkeley. I try to run into John, the long time manager of the room. This time I was told that he would be back in an hour, and I browsed the room and some of the store's other fascinating areas. When he returned, I reminded him of who I was, and he reached beneath the counter and came up with this book and its note "held for fable customer." God knows how long this little book has been waiting for me! How nice of them to think of me and this collection! This is the sort of book I would otherwise have little chance of finding. It is a standard children's version of Aesop for children in Spain, 127 pages long and with some eight full-page colored illustrations, listed on 11. Of them I am especially struck with two. "The Lion in Love" (97) presents high-class drama! "The Eagle, the Tortoise, and the Crow" (33) has two segments. I believe the lower section shows the tortoise breaking into two halves. "The Sick Lion" is pasted into the cloth colored cover inside some gold engraving. 4¾" x 5¾".
