Abstract

This booklet is one of twelve published by Rekos in Greek, apparently upon the designs done by Susaeta for a European-language edition. Its sixteen pages display excellent and lively colored illustrations. This pleasing edition adds a couple of touches to the traditional story of TMCM. In the country, an acorn falls onto the head of the city mouse. Does he actually throw aside the soup that the country mouse has made for him? In the next two pictures, the city mouse is literally dragging the country mouse, first out of the country door and then along the city sidewalk. The city mouse gnaws through the rope holding a ham suspended in the cellar. A human and an animal interrupt them at the same time in the cellar. Is that animal a dog or a cat?
