I have about eight Detmold editions. This is the first from the Folio Society, which is now in 2019 charging $69.95 for the twelfth printing. There is a frontispiece and 22 color plates, not tipped in but done on two sides of special heavy paper separate from normal pagination. There is a list of illustrations after the T of C on xv-xvi. I am coming to appreciate Detmold's art more and more. This time through my eye falls particularly on "The Monkeys and Their Mother" (32); "The Grasshopper and the Owl" (45); "The Monkey and the Dolphin" (93); and FS (117). There are also sixteen black-and-white "integrated illustrations." I am still taken with the very first of these: LM (1). Bound in full cloth, with an interpretation on the front cover of Detmold's original design by David Eccles.
