Here is a later printing -- the nineteenth thousandth -- of a book for which I have a first edition from 1899. This copy prints Stone on the binding differently. As I wrote there, this is a delightful little book! Ade offers engaging and funny tales with art that shows the same mix of the simple and the cynical. For starters try The Visitor Who Got a Lot for Three Dollars, Sister Mae, and Two Mandolin Players and the Willing Performer. Like the first printing but unlike a later printing, this copy has a Stone monogram on its back cover. Inscribed in 1900.
