This was a very nice find on a short excursion to Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. There are eight full-page illustrations in pleasing tan and brown. The first -- "Tar Baby" -- is typically well done, with great facial expressions on Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit. There is also a past-on design and title on the checkerboard cover. Besides the full-page illustrations, there are frequent designs. Many pages are uncut, though all of the illustrations are accessible. Here is more work by a favorite artist!
