This 32-page pamphlet, 6" x 9", is not "Marley, The Dog Who Cried Woof" from HarperCollins in 2011. Cleo, a little poodle, suggests playing tag in the woods. Clifford, the big red dog, is against the idea because he fears Stinky the Skunk Ghost. T-Bone, another little dog, agrees with Clifford. Cleo insists, reminding them that ghosts are not real. Clifford is "it" in the game of tag, which takes them into the woods. As Clifford is about to tag Cleo, she shouts "Look out behind you! It's Stinky the Skunk Ghost!" She falls over laughing when they believe her. While Clifford and T-Bone enjoy swimming, Cleo cries for help from the woods -- again to laugh at their credulity. Then, as the two victims walk away from her, Cleo lets her bow get caught in a branch. They at first disregard her cries for help. Then they do smell a skunk and return to help Cleo, holding their noses as they do so. Cleo apologizes for playing her tricks on them. "I've learned my lesson -- the stinky way." The fable's pattern is carried out in this simple story, first made for television. A final page of questions helps young readers.
