Abstract

Here is a curious mini-book of 336 pages. It seems to follow the edition of M. Hauka in 1968 and to reproduce the translations of M.L. Gasparov from that edition. Here iT includes the occasional black-and-white illustrations of D.M. and S.D. Plaksin. For samples of the illustrations, I recommend "The Satyr and the Human" (193) and DLS (289). Aesop's life seems to consume the first 166 pages. Fables start on 167 and conclude just before three pages of final comment (332-334). The pudgy little book is 3¼" x 3¾ . The T of C at the end covers only the major divisions, not individual fables.
