Abstract

This is a 24-page large (6¾" x 9¼") pamphlet presenting a full and well pictured version of FC. At least every other page has a full-page colored illustration; one spread has both pages working together to form one full illustration. This version has preliminaries not usually used in this story. The fox first asks if the crow might be done with his cheese and ready to pass it along. He next asserts that cheese makes crows sick. I had not heard those approaches before. There is also a surprise at the end. Though the crow laments his giving up the cheese, he has a secret supply of cheeses, and he promptly turns to that supply! The last page and the inside back cover offer three good stimuli: "Let's think about it. Let's talk about it. Let's write about it." The other members of this booklet's series so far fall outside the territory of fables. Fox is male and crow female.
