Here in Gothic script is a dense introduction and Goethe's text in twelve sections. The illustrations, 4¼" x 3½", are strong. I am happy to see a favorite scene depicted with appropriate drama: Tibert's attack on the local priest (25). Among the depictions of fables here are these: The Fox Playing Possum (70); The Wolf, the Fox, and the Horse (78); The Horse and the Stag (98 and 99); The Dog and the Ass (100, perhaps the most dynamic illustration); The Fox and the Cat (101); WC (102); The Wolf and the Fox in Buckets (111); and The Monkey Mother and Her Two Children (114). xv +128 pages. 6" x 9".
