Here is yet another attractive and lively picture book telling two fables for small children, with lively figures and La Fontaine's original text. The two mice are nicely contrasted here, right down to skin color and bowtie versus bandana. This country mouse, by contrast with many other illustrators' work, has bread, cheese, and whole fruits in a lovely little home with pots and pans. The fox in FC runs away with the wedge of cheese under his arm. The booklet represents a fine way to acquaint a child with these two great stories. 8¼" square.
