Abstract

Here is a very sturdy canvas-bound book, 7¼" x 9½", with five thin paper pages joined by ten heavy cardboard pages. Perhaps surprisingly, the thin paper pages are for the five illustrations, each with text on the verso. These illustrations include GA; "Les Oreilles du Lièvre"; TT; "The Horse and Ass"; and "The Cock, the Cat, and the Baby Mouse." This booklet is hard to catalogue because its only clue is " Imprimé en Allegmagne." However, at least one of the images – "Horse and Ass" – corresponds to the image on a booklet slightly smaller in format that I have guessed was done by Bias in the late 1940's. There too, "Imprimé en Allemagne" was a clue. Besides the five full-color full pages there are frequent red monochrome illustrations. I count fourteen stories. The cover shows a very frustrated fox with his snout in the Stork's jar. The cover also has 4356 in its lower left corner.
