Abstract

If this book had a title-page with a date, it has lost it. I presume that this is a second edition and that its date is 1947 from the seller's description on eBay. Leclerc died in 1988 and seems to have been best known as a singer and songwriter. Early work involved scripts for radio dramas. Might these short stories have been in or grown out of that genre? There are twelve stories, about fifteen to twenty pages in length. A little research reveals that this is part of his earliest set of writings, a triad: Adagio (tales, 1943); Allegro (fables, 1944); and Andante (poems, 1944). A quick look look at the stories suggests to me that I am out of my depth in reading them. Here they are for a more colloquial French Canadian reader than me!
