Abstract

Here is a special distribution of a favorite book. The book is included in Scott, Foresman's Invitations to Personal Reading Program. That specification is noted on the book's cover, its title-page, and the verso of the title-page. The whole reading program is outlined on the page facing the title-page. The category for this book is "Books Too Good to Miss." The pages are of thinner paper than in the original edition, and the cover is a brighter white. The back cover has lost its original clever design. Otherwise, the book has apparently all the same specifications. As I wrote of the original, this is one of my favorite books of fables. The makeup of the book is lovely and lively, with little signs and comments along the way. The star of the show is the dog in the water on 39 who answers "Now neither of us has anything!" I have copies of four printings of the original, done successively in 1965, 1966, 1967, and 1969.
