Abstract

The story is new to me but worthy of a fable. A man digs a pit to catch a fox. The clever fox avoids it. As the man sleeps, a skunk instead falls into the trap. The man wakes up and is confident that he has caught a fox. When he approaches the trap, the skunk sprays him, and the scent clings to him. The pamphlet includes a Teaching Suggestions insert prepared by Jane Swett, proclaiming that The Man, the Fox and the Skunk is a fable and offering further resources and activities related to the story.
