Abstract

This booklet is one of twelve published by Rekos in Greek, apparently upon the designs done by Susaeta for a European-language edition. Its sixteen pages display excellent and lively colored illustrations. One fine spread in this good version of The Wolf and the Goat shows the young goat romping off with its satchel on its first spree alone. Luckily, that satchel contains a flute…. The wolf is very dapper in his cap and scarf. I cannot be sure, either from pictures or from the modern Greek, what kind of animal saves the flute-playing goat from the wolf.
