Abstract

This is a 32-page 8" square pamphlet that offers a lively version of the traditional Andersen tale. As often there are parts that may not be well told. How does the emperor tell clever people from fools by wearing clothes that they may not see? This version nicely puts the two weavers into a tower and gives them a chest into which to put the money and valuable cloth that they receive. It also provides them a place from which to get out of town as the big final procession goes on. This emperor in fact wears underclothes but nothing else. When this emperor is found out, he runs home in the picture, saying in the text that the procession must go on. There is no further resolution of the story.
