Abstract

Good condition. Five fables, several with rhyming morals and illustrations of historic interest. In BW (42), John loses his pet lamb along with other sheep. SW (59) is well told. The others are The Clock and the Sundial (72), The Bats (95), and The Seven Sticks (115). Apparently this is the one of McGuffey's rare readers with a significant component of fables. Lindberg (1976) mentions that the competition readers used fables more extensively.
