Abstract

Do animals have souls? Here are twenty pasted-in illustrations presenting animals in fascinating situations with an appropriate short phrase beneath each image. I may have had translations of these phrases from the helpful salesman, but I cannot find them now. I was so impressed with these narrative-suggesting pictures that I decided on the spot to have the book sent along to me. Among those that I can relate to most immediately are En Delikatessehandel, in which a bird couple considers buying a butchered slug among the slugs and bugs hanging in the shop; Generende Familieforhold, in which a baby insect is introduced to the family of insects at a formal dining table; For Tidlig Nekomst, where a non-bird couple finds a premature chick; a young muddy frog crying in front of his mother; A Medical Scientific Experiment; Serenade; Literary Influenza; and Genius. Soft cardboard covers with string binding and an inlaid picture on the front.
