Abstract: en_US This is a schoolbook as I remember schoolbooks! Nicely colored pictures with outlines not too sharp highlight simple texts about progress and trains and tractors. One fable, The Rooster and the Pearl, comes up--somewhat awkwardly, I would say--in the context of corn (115). There is no moralizing conclusion, and the picture shows an elderly grocery-store-keeper holding the pearl. This book has been at Parkside School and at Holy Rosary Mission in Alaska.
