Abstract: en_US A standard reader in poor condition. The reader opens with three Aesopic fables-- The Monkey and the Cats, LS, and BW--and one American Indian story labelled a fable. Later on (51) there is the fable of the larks' family. The first has a good illustration by Rhoda Chase (6). The other illustrations are indifferent. BW has an unusual feature in that the shepherd loses his pet lamb among the victims of the real wolf.
