Abstract

This 40-page oversized booklet belongs with the many others in the collection produced by René Touret. It differs from them principally in its four illustrations by Urbain Raymond, signed backwards as elsewhere. These illustrations are unbacked on special paper and are included in the booklet's pagination but not given printed page numbers. Three of these illustrations appeared in a similar booklet I have dated to "1936?", while a fourth (AD, 14) appears in another with a date of 1946. The former three are "Animals Sick in the Plague" (4); "Cat, Weasel, and Rabbit" (24); and MM (34). A curiosity is that MM appears in the booklet with Raymond's signature reversed, while the same image on this booklet's cover has his signature in normal fashion. That image in both places has the "dancing eggs" I have noted before. The book is unusually limp. I suspect it has been sealed up for some time, either in someone's basement or in the bouquinist's case.
