Abstract: en_US This is a delightful and important book. The first question about it has to do with date and edition. Bodemann #283 seems to list an 1837 edition after a first edition of 1836. If we have one of those two here, which might it be? Our copy shows no date. Its cover but not its title-page states "Neue Ausgabe," not mentioned in Bodemann. The modern languages are in three columns, followed by the Latin in two columns. Fables 1-130 are Aesopic. Fables 131-211 are "Diverse-Gemischt." The 36 illustrations come two to a page. They are strong, like TB (#92 on 168) and "Death and the Woodman" (#140 on 232). The page count (319 + 1) matches Bodemann's. There is a T of C for each language at the end. I found this book in a large collection of fairy tales over a stairwell and almost out of reach.
