Abstract

This large-format (7½” x 10¼”) paperbound book contains 25 fables on 103 pages. The fables, most frequently four pages long, are identified by country of origin, including WC, marked “Aesop-Yunani.” I find it curious that none is attributed to France. Other fables that I recognize include “Crocodile and Monkey” (1) and “Stork and Crab” (41). Many seem to be “pourquoi” stories. Each fable includes a separate section labeled in English “Character Building” and two other sections labeled in Indonesian ”Moral Message” and “Unique Facts” (for example, that Africa is the second-largest continent in the world). The computer-generated graphics are only moderately interesting.
