Abstract

87 pages in a portfolio including 19 fables, with either a double-page or a single-page black lithograph for each. 10” x 12¾”. Limited to 257 numbered exemplars. This is #122 of 150 on vélin de Rives B. F. K. Included are two “Planches en Homage” of a contorted face: Is this Aesop? The portfolio cover may be the most impressive lithograph in a work put together to be impressive. “The Dog and His Master” is a touching portrait of both. OF seems typical of Imblot’s work. “The Three Artisans” involves a fascinating experiment in letting the type of work shape the persona of the artisan. I am surprised not to have heard of this work until now. From the looks of his presence on the web, he specialized in the large and dramatic. The tissue within each double lithograph has a leaf pattern. T of C at the end.
