Abstract

Here, among too many Hebrew and Yiddish books that do not treat fables, is a book that does. A first set (3-114) are labeled "Original Fables." Those on 117-171 are described as by Krylov and others. There is a beginning T of C; it misses by a couple of pages for the fables I checked towards the end of the book, like "The Hare" (168, not 170). There is a set of illustrations in quite varied styles on unbacked pages from XI to XLVII at the beginning, including XLVII on the "Hares and Frogs" fable just mentioned. I presume that the language here is Yiddish. The author is mentioned in "The Lawrence Warwick Collection of Copyrighted Yiddish Plays at the Library of Congress" online but nowhere else that I can find.
