John Prince Markoe (1890–1967)

John Prince Markoe was the fourth child of James Cox Markoe and Mary Amelia Prince. Initially pursuing a military path, John attended West Point but was dismissed for disciplinary reasons. Afterward, he found his true calling as a Jesuit priest, inspired by his brother’s example and guidance. Embracing a life of service, he dedicated himself to education and spiritual leadership, shaping the lives of many in his communities. His journey from military ambition to religious devotion reflects a personal transformation that would define his legacy.
