Father John Markoe, SJ

Before he became a leading voice in the fight for racial justice and co-founder of the DePorres Club, Fr. John Markoe lived a life marked by challenge, leadership,  transformation, conviction, and service.

How to pronounce "Markoe": the pronunciation of the family name can be tricky. It is pronounced: "Mar-coo."  "Markoe" ends in a Danish-modified French "cou"--  which suggests the rich family heritage (Markoe Papers, B12 F8).
