Abstract

This is a 24-page booklet made apparently for developing fluidity in English through reader's theater. Each volume begins with a resume of the story and two pages of tips on reader's theater by Aaron Shepherd. The six characters are clearly laid out and their names are marked by different colors as the play goes through its five acts. A poem, a song, and a glossary finish off the booklet. The poem here is What If the Score Is Against You? and the song is Are You Sleeping (Frère Jacques). These are clever choices! A repeated design marks 6 through 24. The one fuller illustration, on the book's front cover and title-page, presents the tortoise breaking the ribbon across the finish line while the hare, wearing tennis shoes, hurries to catch up.
