In the town of St. Luis in Illinois, on the twentieth day of the month of December, in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-nine, there was a public exhibition in this said town, before Mr. Carlos Delajous, in front, Coxon? Volos Nas, Exempt, and in front of Fovexnor, in this high Suiss, in the presence of the witnesses who appeared, namely Joseph Hoxtiz and Pedro Saffillaxda. Also present in person was Mr. Jacinto Steor, a resident and trader of this mentioned town, who by these presents declares and confesses that today he has sold, transferred, and relinquished, both temporarily and permanently, and promises to make enjoy and preserve free from any debts, mortgages, claims, substitutions, and any other rights that may exist, to Mr. Franco Maria Benoit, a resident and trader of this aforementioned town, present here, witnessing, accepting, and acquiring for himself and his heirs, or others who may have the right, a piece of land measuring one hundred and twenty feet in frontage and one hundred and fifty feet in depth, enclosed with stakes of various qualities. On this land stands a house of thirty feet in length and twenty-two feet in width, with upper and lower floors made of wood, and a gallery all around. It also has a kitchen with a hearth and a small storage space for hay. This property is bounded to the south by land currently owned by Mr. Jph. Bobidous, and to the north by a street that separates it from another property.

By Mr. Gregorio Varpy, facing the main street, there stands the house

in the town of St. Suis, and behind it, the land of the late Mrs. Charlivilles,

all as it is, and the year Acquirer declares having

seen and visited, being content and satisfied, without anything being hindered

or withheld, acquiring it according to the terms and conditions, and conforming to the agreements.

And for the advance payment of the sum of one thousand six hundred and fifty pesos,

in the current currency of this country, paid in full,

Mr. Jacintomo Stcir declares in our presence to have received

from Mr. Franco Maria Benoit as the total payment, for the aforementioned house and

land, giving the former to the Acquirer through these present

as full and definitive acquittance, separating himself from all

the rights and benefits he had in the moment of acquisition,

which he did by means of a public deed executed in favor of the late

Mrs. Hebert, for the benefit of the Acquirer,

so that from now on, the Acquirer may enjoy and possess it as his own,

in accordance with the aforementioned property and in compliance with all

the laws and regulations in his favor, with the prohibition

of any claim or hindrance. They have agreed and promised,

and it is done and stated in this government office, in the presence of the aforementioned

witnesses and assistants who have signed with me.

By the said authority, the Governor, and the witnesses, except for

Mr. Jacinto Steir, who, for not knowing how to sign, has made a

cross mark after reading on the same day, Wednesday,

and year as mentioned.

Signed by Mr. Jacinto Far.
