Blumberg Marginalia

Like many book owners, Blumberg wrote some revealing comments in books while they were in his posession. Here is a selection of Blumberg's marginalia discovered in the collection in Creighton Rare Books & Archives.

Very Rare

Reader please take time I want you to think for a minute. Look at the top above statement, Now look at A & B this book dealer "book pig" who at one time had this tried to run this "gammit" on some innosent [sic] collector. Why he didn't pay 10 cents for this look at the price drop. Why can't he set an honest profit margin to start with. Never believe a rare book dealers lies. I paid exactly what this book is worth, nothing. and I'm not making any bones about it. Don't pay any book pig any more than I did.

Selby Avenue report 1978

Note

I purchased this book to gain additional knowledge into plans for the aria [sic]. I lived there from 1965-68 & have been in the aria [sic] on an almost daily basis since. Total 15 years +.

While the intent of this is good as I understand it being the building up of Selby Ave. I find it full of the (double think) high toned talk of a beaurocrat. I don't understand it & have to get a philadelphia lawyer or Harvard Doctorate to decipher it for me. The pointy headed intellectuals do this on purpose to communicate with their own snob bunch. To detect this just look for frequent used words like, staff, analisis, & strange number & letter & word combinations this is beaurocrat (double talk). This aria [sic] now is filling up, now with the economics, as a dump for the 1960s Hippies & street people. The familys are shack jobs ect. [sic] To cover their baseness they put on an air of fake intellectual pin head, snob educate. They can do this for the welfare gave them some college education, or they got free government college loans which weren't paid back.

Anyway the old neighborhoods older & been badly abused. The economys [sic] bad the Hippies are older & are putting on the infinate knowledge act now & talking in nasal tone voices over peoples heads & joining No-Nukes clubs & giving part of the facts in publications like this & charging for it.

This is a very small step up I concede from bulldozing the aria [sic], but it sure leaves room to improve. I dislike the high binders & speculators who also go hand in glove with the ignorant. (Hippies & welfare) & money  (govt. programs) I attended a gutted out condominium sale in a wind swept snow blown gutted flat & was attempted to be conned $100,000 for this by a shiney suited salesman with bad breath. (college hill condo).

I again feel this whole picture isn't progress but a deteriation, just on a different course.

This pamphlet only gives part of the story with its maise [sic] of charts & diagrams & I don't have to be buzzed on pot to understand it & its short commings [sic]. You can't make sound decisions or insights with part of the facts.
