J. Clay Smith
J. Clay Smith was a prominent Creighton alumni who used his legal prowess to champion workers rights, particularly for sexual harassment victims. He was a well-loved professer and Dean at the Howard University School of Law, a prominent authority on the history of Black lawyers, and a celebrated author. He passed away in 2018.
Although Smith has been commemorated through sponsorship of scholarships for Black law students, his scope of his larger legal accomplishments has gone unappreciated after his death. Howard University School of Law has worked to mantain his presence and his memory through archival work, he has gone unrecognized in the wider legal community.
